Overview

Shops are used to sell content that is created for users and developers in Blue Mars.

To update a Shop, you must be a Block Developer. If you are simply renting a Shop from the Marketplace, this page will not apply to you.
(Please note, this only applies to empty Blocks. If there are current tenants on your Block you will be unable to re-upload the .b2c to update the Shop.)

As a Block Developer you can

Evict tenant

In order to apply any changes to the Shops in your block you must evict tenant from that Shop first.

To do so, you need to go to the Developer MyPage and then use the Evict tenant command from the menu located next to the Shop name in the tab of PROPERTIES > Block > Shops

For more information, see Evicting a Tenant.

Change Shop Name In Block Editor

Note: You must evict tenant in order to change the ARShop entity name.

1) First, open the saved BLD file of the Block which has the Shop that you are going to be modifying in the Block Editor.
2) Find the ARShop entity that you want to rename and select it.
Tip: if you are having trouble finding the Shop entity try holding the space bar down, this will bring up the display tags for all entities on the Block.

3) Once you have found the ARShop entity, look to your RollupBar and simply rename the entity from there.
Tip:Make sure you are in the "Objects" tab.

4) To enable this change in Blue Mars, you need to re-export and re-upload B2C.
Note: This name will only appear in the Developer MyPage and the Shop/Block Marketplace.

To change the Shop name in Blue Mars you need to change "Display Name" as Shop owner.

Repositioning the Shop

Note: You must evict tenant in order to reposition the Shop.

1) First open the saved BLD file which has a Shop that you are going to be repositioning in the Block Editor.
2) Select ARShop entity that you want to reposition.
3) Move them wherever you want.
4) Export B2C and upload to Blue Mars property database for submitting your changes.

Change the number of Shelves in the Shop

Note: You must evict tenant in order to change the number of Shelves in the Shop.

1) First open the saved BLD file which has a Shop that you are going to be repositioning in the Block Editor.
2) Select ARShop entity that you want to reposition.
3) Change the scale of the ARShop entity to change the number of Shelves it can hold in that Shop.
Note: Number of Shelves must not exceed the limit which is assigned to the Block.

Please see here for more information.

4) Export B2C and upload to Blue Mars property database for submitting your changes.

Deleting Shops

Note: You must evict tenant in order to delete the Shop.

1) First, open the Block Editor and load your Block.
Note: Downloading the .BLD file from the Developer MyPage will give you a completely empty Block, unless this is your aim please open your Block from what data has been saved from your MyData Directory.

2) With your Block opened and displayed it is simply a matter of selecting the ARShop entity which you would like to remove (and possibly the model used to house the entity) and deleting them.
Tip:If you are having trouble selecting your Shop entity hold the space bar which will display all of the tags for all entities on the Block.

Another way is if you know the name of the entity you would like to remove you can use the Object Select Tool found under VIEW > Open View Pane > Select Object and double-click the entities which you would like to remove.

This will make the entities active within the view port and allow you to locate and delete them.

3) Export B2C and upload to Blue Mars property database for submitting your changes.

Re-export and Re-upload B2C

  • When you are satisfied with your changes be sure to save the .BLD file (FILE > Save .BLD) then export B2C file (FILE > Export .B2C).

  • Login to the Developer MyPage and under PROPERTIES > Block > Leased Blocks select the Block you have just modified and click Upload .B2C file.

  • On the dialogue that follows, select your .B2C and make sure you check the box to "Delete Existing Properties."
Note: What "Delete Existing Properties" will do is delete all the Shops/Residences information of your Block that are currently storing on the Blue Mars property database and replace them with what you are uploading.

  • Now click submit and if everything checked out alright, your Block should be updated.
Note: Your block will not appear in Blue Mars until the city developer merges your .B2C into their city and uploads it to Avatar Reality.
